I feel that communication and collaboration in the classroom are essential to keeping students interested and engaged in school. It also gives the opportunity to improve valuable skills such as critical thinking and public speaking. Designing a classroom matters when it comes to keeping students engaged in their classwork and it increases student participation (Kellough, 2011). Because I encourage teamwork, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking in the classroom, I will create a seating arrangement that allows students to interact in meaningful classwork and make it easy for student collaboration. I will give students autonomy in my classroom and allow them to choose their seats but will establish rules to maintain a respectable and productive learning environment. I believe that giving students autonomy will provide a positive instructional climate. If students are unable to respect the classroom seating arrangement, warnings will be given and privileges will be provoked after two violations.
